Organ News Headlines

Looking back over the news for the past few weeks, it’s just all been about problems and difficulties. Well not this time. This post is to say that everything is working great on the technical side of things. We moved Organlive.com to an entirely different web host, one that gives us much more control over our situation. Since we’ve moved it, we haven’t had any of the recurring problems we noticed with communication between the old host and our server. We don’t know if everything is completely resolved once and for all, but we’re certainly breathing much easier, now.

September is upon us, and that marks Organlive.com’s official birthday. It was on September 1, 2003 that we made our broadcast of organ music open and free for the public to tune in and listen. We’ve come a long way since then, and we still feel we have father to go! In addition to seven years of broadcasting, just this month we added the 10,000th regular track to our library. We have 830 albums online, plus about another 40 of seasonal music that shows up at the end of the year.

We have a huge backlog of albums to go online, as well. We’re working our way through them, but as we go we want to take time to point out some of our favorites, however we don’t do that here. That’s in our monthly email newsletter. If you’re not getting that, then you should sign up for news and updates about what’s going on at Organlive, and to get information that’s not available on our website. To sign up, go to our Contact Page, fill out the form, and check the box at the bottom of the form to receive our email. Also, if you’ve created an account on Organlive.com, just go to the My Account tab at the top of the page, and select which emails you’d like to receive. In addition to our newsletter, you can also sign up for our New Album updates which will notify you of new recordings as they are added. These actually haven’t started to go out, yet, but we hope to begin sending them this month.

Margaret W. Fowler, 87, who co-edited two books about the rich and diverse lives of the elderly, died July 14 at Broadmead, a continuing-care retirement community in Cockeysville, Md. She had Parkinson’s disease.
